Founded in 2005 in Manchester by Jo Fisher, Footlights is a UK network of children's stage schools offering weekly performing arts classes in acting, singing and dancing.
Footlights has grown from a single school in the North West to a nationwide community. We have schools across the UK including locations in London.
At the heart of everything we do is a supportive, inclusive environment where children and young people can build confidence, develop performance skills and feel part of something special. Whether they are stepping on stage for the first time or building on existing experience.
Footlights classes run on Saturday mornings during term time, with some schools running after school classes and many during offering holiday schools.
Testimonials
“I just wanted to say a huge well done and thank you for putting together such a lovely night tonight. They both said it was the best night of their lives and even their brother went to bed singing! All the children were amazing and so brave! The whole night was a real credit to Footlights and to you both. Thanks as always for giving the girls the opportunity to be step out of their comfort zone and to do what they love.”
“Our daughter loves Footlights on a Saturday, has made lots of new friends, learnt lots of new skills and can’t wait for next week!”
“My little girl Annabelle loved the taster day yesterday. She's been struggling with anxiety recently, but she came out with the biggest smile on her face! She loved all the staff and can't wait for next week!”
“Lily has attended Footlights from the opening day and has loved every minute! Richard and Debbie are always super friendly, enthusiastic and supportive and, with the whole teaching team, create a fun and inclusive environment for the children to learn and perform. Lily’s confidence, and love for all things drama, dance and singing, has grown massively over the years and she looks forward to each class and show. Watching her grow and develop as a performer during her time at Footlights has been brilliant. Highly recommended.”
“Our daughter attends Footlights Worcester each weekend and has really enjoyed it. She’s only just turned 5 but has already been involved in the Christmas show and had the opportunity to perform The Little Mermaid in the summer.”
“Footlights Worcester put on a week’s summer school where she went for five days, performing Matilda on the last day. She absolutely loved it and it was brilliant for us on the days we were working as they offer either shorter or longer days. She got to learn acting as well as practicing her dancing and singing. Debbie and Richard are lovely and great with the children. We are now signing up our three year-old daughter for a trial.”

Meet Richard and Debbie
Richard and Debbie bring a wealth of professional experience and a genuine passion for helping young people thrive through performing arts at Footlights Worcester. As former professional performers and experienced educators, they have spent their careers working across theatre, television, film and education. Richard’s stage and screen credits include Cabaret, Equus, The Bill and Casualty, while Debbie performed professionally from an early age, appearing in Byker Grove before studying Drama at Liverpool University and performing in London’s West End.
Together, they created Footlights Worcester to provide a supportive, inclusive and inspiring environment where children can grow in confidence, creativity and friendships. What they love most is watching students develop both on and off the stage, discovering skills that will benefit them throughout life. With busy, energetic Saturday sessions led by specialist tutors, Footlights Worcester is proud to be ‘Not Just a Stage School’, helping every child feel valued, encouraged and inspired.
