Alice, website checks and your listing score: your questions answered

Alice is our AI listing helper. She helps you create great listings from your own website, keeps them up to date, and shows you what will help families find and book your classes. You stay in control the whole time. Here are the questions providers ask us most.

About Alice

Who is Alice?

Alice is our AI listing helper, built by What’s On 4 Kids. Her name stands for Activities Listing Intelligence for Classes and Events. She isn’t a person (or a bee!). She reads your website, suggests wording and details for your listings, and points out what’s missing. She suggests, you decide.

Do I have to use her?

No. Alice is there to save you time, but you can still create and edit your listings yourself, exactly as before.

Will Alice change my listing without asking?

No. Nothing Alice suggests is saved until you choose to save it, and changes may be checked by our team before they go live, just like any other change to your listing.

Where does Alice get her information?

Only information that is publicly available on the website you give her, including any booking or timetable pages your website links to. She never logs into anything.

What if Alice gets something wrong?

She can, for example by picking up last term’s prices or another branch’s times. Always check the days, times, prices and venue before you save. Once saved, the details are part of your listing and it’s your responsibility to make sure they’re right, as they would be if you had typed them yourself. You can edit anything Alice suggests.

Will my listing sound like a robot?

Alice writes in plain UK English from what’s on your website. Read it through and change anything that doesn’t sound like you. Families respond best to listings that feel personal.

Is my content used to train AI, or shared with anyone else?

No. Alice uses AI from Anthropic, which processes your content on our behalf only to provide Alice. It does not use your content to train its AI and keeps it only for a short time for safety and security. We never share your content with other providers.

My website has staff names, photos and biographies. Is that OK?

Alice may suggest a class leader’s name, photo and biography from your website. Please make sure the people involved are happy for them to appear on What’s On 4 Kids.

Why did Alice leave my phone number and email out of the description?

Your listing has its own places for your phone number, email address, website and booking link, so families can tap to call, email or book. Contact details in the description can’t be tapped and often go out of date, so Alice keeps them in the right places instead.

Alice can’t read my booking system. What do I do?

Some booking systems block automated reading. Alice will show you what to do: open your timetable page, select everything (Ctrl+A, or Cmd+A on a Mac), copy it (Ctrl+C or Cmd+C), and paste it into Alice. If you get stuck, email your timetable to info@whatson4kids.co.uk and we’ll help.

Can Alice add photos from my website?

Yes, she can suggest photos from your website. Only use photos you own or have permission to use, and choose clear photos of your classes. Blurry or stock photos may be rejected.

What is Change all my listings?

If you have several listings, you can change the same detail, such as your description, photos or social links, across all of them at once. You’ll see a preview first. Check it carefully, as the change applies to every listing you choose.

Why can’t I change some details?

If you’re part of a franchise, your head office may have asked us to protect some details. These are marked Set by your franchise head office. Please contact your head office if they need changing.

Can I add badges and memberships?

Yes, but only ones you’re entitled to, such as awards you have won or memberships you hold. We may remove any badge we can’t verify.

What is Ask Alice?

Ask Alice is a chat on every page of your advertiser account. Ask her anything about your account, listings or subscription, and she'll answer straight away, link you to the right page, or open the right tool. If she can't help, she can send your question and the conversation to our concierge team, who'll reply by email. She can't change anything in your account herself.

Does Alice keep my questions?

We keep the questions people ask Alice, and her answers, for 12 months, so we can see what people need help with and improve Alice and our help pages. Email addresses and phone numbers are taken out before anything is saved, and questions aren't linked to your account. When you send a question to our team, it comes to us by email so we can reply.

Does Alice cost extra?

No. Alice is included in your subscription.

Can I turn Alice off?

Yes. Choose Turn Alice off in Alice’s panel or on your dashboard. This applies to your whole account and nothing on your listings changes. You can keep website checks on if you like, and turn Alice back on at any time.

Website checks

What are website checks?

If you switch them on, Alice reads your website each night and lets you know by email when something looks different from before, such as new class times, a price change, a new venue or new contact details. It saves you remembering to update your listings every time your website changes.

Will you update my listing automatically?

No. We never change your listing without you. The email tells you what looks different, and you decide whether to update your listing.

Do I switch them on for each listing?

No. Website checks are for your whole account. Once they’re on, every listing with a website is checked, including listings you add later. Listings without a website can’t be checked.

Who gets the emails, and how often?

The emails go to the email address on your account. We only email when we’ve seen the same change two nights running, so we don’t alert you to a page that was briefly out of date, and we email about each listing no more than once a week.

Will you spot every change?

We can’t promise that. Some websites and booking systems can’t be read, and some changes are hard to spot automatically. Website checks are a helpful reminder, but it’s still your responsibility to keep your listings accurate.

How do I switch them off?

At any time, from your advertiser dashboard or with the link in any website checks email. When you switch them off, we stop reading your websites straight away and delete the details we last read.

Do website checks cost extra?

No. Website checks are part of Alice and included in your subscription.

Your listing score

What is my listing score?

Your score, out of 100, shows how complete and helpful your listing is for families. The higher the score, the more likely families are to find what they need and get in touch.

How do I improve it?

Follow Alice’s suggestions. She shows you what to do next, such as adding photos, days and times, or a fuller description. Each one she suggests will raise your score.

Why don’t you show exactly how the score is worked out?

The score is there to help you give families what they need, not to be a checklist. We may adjust it over time as we learn what helps families most. Alice will always tell you what to do next.

Can other people see my score?

No. Only you can see it.

Your information and our terms

What information do you keep?

If you switch on website checks, we keep the email address on your account, the listings being checked and a summary of what we last read from each website. Our privacy policy explains everything, including how long we keep it.

Have your terms changed?

Yes. We’ve added a section on Alice and website checks to our advertising terms. It confirms that Alice only suggests changes, you stay in control, and website checks are optional.

How do I tell you what I think of Alice?

Use the feedback box at the bottom of Alice’s panel, or email info@whatson4kids.co.uk. Alice is new and your feedback helps us make her better.
