Description

East London Piano was created in 2011 out of need for high quality private music education in East London. We are now in our tenth year of successful operation and we boast an outstanding track record in graded exams as well as many student awards in local competitions and festivals. We really are the top piano centre in East London for children as well as adults!

We have 3 studios in Hackney and we aim to provide tailored piano lessons to meet your level of aptitude/skills. We offer amongst other things: personalised study pathways, free online learning resources, student concerts, masterclasses with international concert artists, recital outings and an annual scholarship for an outstanding young musician.

We are also part of Children’s University – an international charity that provides children with access to learning experiences outside the normal school day.

Our tutors are experienced, talented musicians who have trained in the best schools in the UK and abroad; they remain active on the concert scene, performing around the country and internationally.

We have welcomed thousands of students through the years at our studios and have taught a number of celebrity students too: Little Boots, FKA Twigs, members of We Have Band and Spector and many others!

East London Piano is proud to be a Corporate Member of EPTA (European Piano Teachers’ Association)

Kat Perdikomati

Meet Kat Perdikomati

Kat Perdikomati is a musician active in different strands of artistic practice: as classical pianist, songwriter/singer, musical theatre performer and piano coach.

As a classical pianist, she initially trained at the National Conservatoire in Athens where she graduated from with distinction in 2001 and received private tuition with Prof. Christopher Elton. She then went on to complete a Masters’ in Piano Performance at Goldsmiths College in 2014 (University of London). Kat was kindly supported by Goldsmith College’s International Student Fund throughout her studies and acknowledges further sponsorship via the P. and M. Lovell Trust.

Kat performed Schubert’s Divertissement a l’ hongroise for 4 hands for fashion designer Erdem’s Summer 2009 show during London Fashion Week and a year later she played a concert alongside tuba player John William Banther at Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

In November 2012, she participated in the Senior Intercollegiate Piano Competition organised by the Beethoven Society of Europe and in May 2013, she made her debut at the Southbank Centre’s Purcell Room performing John White’s Piano Sonata with Goldsmiths’ Contemporary Music Ensemble.

Kat was personally selected by Artur Pizarro to participate in a showcase masterclass at Venables Pianos (April 2013) and has taken part in masterclasses given by piano giants Andrei Gavrilov, Dmitri Alexeev and Stephen Kovacevich at Dartington Summer School with a bursary provided by Dartington Hall Trust.

In the summer of 2014 she performed at LSO St Luke’s as part of the Soundhub’s series premiering an ensemble piece written by resident composer Helen Papaioannou. She was also the pianist for ā€˜Calculated to Death’, a contemporary opera composed by S. Laskowski which premiered at Tete a Tete opera festival in two sold-out shows, favourably reviewed in The Telegraph in 2014.
Kat founded East London Piano, a piano school open to both children and adults in the London Borough of Hackney in 2011 and continues to act as its MD to date. In 2020, the school was nominated as ā€˜Independent business of the year’ by Club Hub UK, and AEP in the ā€˜Female Enterpreneur of the year’ category. The school maintains a high profile in graded examinations, as well as local and national competitions, and has welcomed a number of celebrity pupils through the years.

She also runs Little Voices Hackney since 2018, an award-winning national franchise offering training in musical theatre to children ages 4-18.
