Founded in 2005 in Manchester by Jo Fisher, Footlights is a UK network of children's stage schools offering weekly performing arts classes in acting, singing and dancing.
Footlights has grown from a single school in the North West to a nationwide community. We have schools across the UK including locations in London.
At the heart of everything we do is a supportive, inclusive environment where children and young people can build confidence, develop performance skills and feel part of something special. Whether they are stepping on stage for the first time or building on existing experience.
Footlights classes run on Saturday mornings during term time,with some schools running after school classes and many during offering holiday schools.

Meet Ella Fontaine
Hello, I’m Ella Fontaine the owner of Footlights Didsbury. I have worked in performing arts education in Manchester for over twenty years as a school singing and piano teacher, choral conductor and music director. In a past life I was professional singer, but these days you’re more likely to find me behind the scenes writing plays and poetry for our children and young people and producing our shows which I absolutely love!
As a creative youngster, drama and music clubs had such a positive impact on my mental health and wellbeing and provided an environment for me to socialise with like-minded friends. This experience shapes Footlights Didsbury, where our students come together to act, sign and dance each week, building confidence and peer relationships. You will find us friendly, caring and welcoming. The standard of our shows is incredibly high and we produce two performances each year so parents and carers can watch their child’s progress.
