Our Nature Makers classes are designed to be fun, educational and inspire creativity and mindfulness through nature inspired Art & Crafts. Every term we journey through the season learning about nature and the world around us through facts, nature play and exploration, related Art & Crafts and finish with a story about the theme.
At Nature Makers, we journey through the seasons learning about nature and the environment through mindful art, making craft and outdoor play. Each session focuses on a nature theme that we use to inspire creative early years activities, and we finish with a related story or poem.
Sessions are tailored to help children explore the natural world and develop fine motor skills. As we care about our planet, all products used are natural, eco friendly, and we always repurpose plastics and source vegan where possible.
Please note this venue is outdoors. Please dress for the weather and be prepared to get a little messy. There is running water, and there are toilets 2 minutes walk away at Whitley Bay Metro or Whitley Bay Big Local.
Fridays at 10:00
We run in school term time, from February until November.

Meet Katherine Elder
Hello, I’m Katherine, your Nature Makers provider for North of Tyne.
I’m a fully qualified teacher with 20 years experience of working with children across the age and ability range. Children thrive when they are free to explore the world around them and express themselves creatively. It has never been so important that children experience and connect with the natural world, both for their wellbeing and the future of Planet Earth.
My son’s favourite things to do are ‘go outside’ and ‘do making’. We are almost always muddy, wet, windswept, sticky or covered in paint and we share our house with an ever growing collection of pine cones, stones, sticks and other natural treasures. I have always loved being outdoors but seeing him discover things for the first time has brought me a whole new level of joy. It’s wonderful to see him developing a deep connection with our natural world I’m incredibly excited to be bringing Nature Makers to the North East and I look forward to sharing my love of nature and getting crafty with as many little people and their families as possible.
