Founded in 2005 in Manchester by Jo Fisher, Footlights is a UK network of children's stage schools offering weekly performing arts classes in acting, singing and dancing.
Footlights has grown from a single school in the North West to a nationwide community. We have schools across the UK including locations in London.
At the heart of everything we do is a supportive, inclusive environment where children and young people can build confidence, develop performance skills and feel part of something special. Whether they are stepping on stage for the first time or building on existing experience.
Footlights classes run on Saturday mornings during term time,with some schools running after school classes and many during offering holiday schools.

Meet Alex Barber
Hello everyone!
I’m Alex and I am the owner and director of Footlights Saddleworth. We’ve been running for three years now and are always welcoming new children to join us and see what we are all about!
I trained at Northern School of Contemporary Dance and graduated youngest in my year at the age of 20 with a BPA Hons Degree. I then went on to take numerous dance contracts that gave me the chance to work in lots of countries including Greece, Portugal and Spain and work with music artists such as Blossoms and Paul Heaton in music videos. After this I decided I wanted to pursue my dream of directing a stage school and what a whirlwind it has been with never a boring moment!
At Footlights Saddleworth the kids come first – if they are not happy then we’re not happy. We believe children should be seen AND heard and we love to give them the self-belief needed to become their own person. My goal has been to create a safe space where all kids feel happy to express themselves in the most fun of ways (Acting, Singing and Dancing)!
