Founded in 2005 in Manchester by Jo Fisher, Footlights is a UK network of children's stage schools offering weekly performing arts classes in acting, singing and dancing.
Footlights has grown from a single school in the North West to a nationwide community. We have schools across the UK including locations in London.
At the heart of everything we do is a supportive, inclusive environment where children and young people can build confidence, develop performance skills and feel part of something special. Whether they are stepping on stage for the first time or building on existing experience.
Footlights classes run on Saturday mornings during term time, with some schools running after school classes and many during offering holiday schools.

Meet Aaron Doherty Tubb
Hello and welcome! I’m so glad you’re here.
My journey in performing arts began many years ago, and I’ve proudly been part of Footlights since 2013. Alongside this, I’ve been working with children since the age of 17, starting out as a 2:1 Teaching Assistant supporting a child with special educational needs. That experience shaped so much of who I am as a Footlights franchisee today, it taught me patience, understanding, and how to truly support every child as an individual.
I run my Footlights school because I believe every child deserves a creative, safe space where they can truly be themselves. Performing arts is about so much more than acting, singing, dancing to me, it’s about building confidence, developing communication skills, learning teamwork, and discovering passions that can last a lifetime. Watching children grow in self-belief and step outside their comfort zones is the most rewarding part of what I do.
What makes our school really special is the environment and opportunities we provide. We are proud to be the only Footlights franchise with our own dedicated base, giving our students a consistent, welcoming space to learn and grow. We also run regular West End workshops, as well as knowledge days led by local performing arts colleges and universities, helping to inspire and guide those who may want to take their training further.
We’re also passionate about developing leadership skills in our students. Our student teacher training programme gives young people the chance to gain valuable experience by assisting in classes, building confidence, responsibility, and real-world skills along the way.
Above all, our school is a community, supportive, encouraging, and full of energy, where every child is valued and celebrated.
I can’t wait to welcome you and your child into our Footlights family.
Aaron and the Footlights Team.
