Description

At Theatretrain, Saturday mornings look a little different.

Children and teenagers spend three hours with us exploring drama, singing and dance in a structured but welcoming environment where they can relax, try things out and gradually grow in confidence.

We work hard - but we also laugh a lot.

Every week, students build skills that go far beyond performing.

They learn how to speak up, work as part of a team, listen properly, take direction, support each other and keep going when something feels challenging.

Confidence doesn’t arrive in one big moment. It builds steadily over time.

Our students take part in live theatre productions in professional venues, which gives them something exciting to work towards and real experience of being part of a show.

Every child is involved. Everyone has a place.

If you’re looking for a local performing arts class where your child can develop skills, make genuine friendships and feel part of something positive, Theatretrain offers a safe, ambitious and supportive space for them to grow.

Other Info

Alongside our weekly sessions, we also bring in extra opportunities across the year that give the children something new to stretch into.

That might be a West End–style workshop where they learn choreography at pace, a stage combat session (always a favourite), or additional performance opportunities where they can put their skills into practice in front of an audience.
.
We also run workshops with Goldmans Management, our chosen theatrical agency.

They offer professional insight into how the industry works, guidance around screen acting, and advice on things like headshots and auditions.

For the children who are curious about that world, it’s a brilliant way to understand it properly.

For most, it simply builds confidence and awareness.
For a few, it might spark something bigger.
Either way, they leave knowing more than when they walked in!

Simon or Geraldine

Meet Geraldine Hyman and Simon Toole

Geraldine Hyman has over 15 years of experience in children’s theatre education, she is passionate about creating a safe, structured and ambitious environment where young people can grow in confidence, creativity and self-belief.

Geraldine believes that performing arts training builds far more than stage skills. Through drama, singing and dance, students develop communication, resilience and teamwork. These skills support kids both in school and beyond. Her centres are known for their warm, family atmosphere and high-quality productions in professional venues.

Simon's job is to ensure your children are enjoying their professional theatre training in a fun and creative way, supporting both our teaching team and our young performers.

Having been involved with Theatretrain since 1999, he has been lucky enough to perform, teach and organise productions locally and nationally. Since graduating from De Montfort University with a BA (Hons) in Theatre, he has worked with young people in a variety of settings. As well as leading Theatretrain Leicester, he works as an Assistant Headteacher at a Leicester City primary school.

He is very passionate about education, especially the education, training and experience that Theatretrain provides for young people.
