Meet Helen Mayes

Helen has enjoyed performing from an early age. She has a BA (honours) in English literature and drama and has worked in theatre, film and television. For several years Helen was artistic director of her own youth musical theatre company and ran community drama workshops; many of her students went on to train professionally in dance or acting and have careers in the performance industry. Helen then trained as a teacher and gained a Postgraduate Certificate in Education. For 13 years, she taught English and drama in a large secondary school and now is really excited to reduce her working hours at school in order to focus once again on performing arts training, her true passion. She can’t wait to work with the young people of Wakefield and help them to develop their confidence and performance skills!
