Experts agree that music benefits all areas of learning, and we all know that music is vital to our well-being! Our classes focus on the use of music to support development of speech, language and communication – along with social skills – through fun sessions lead by experienced and well-trained teachers and musicians. Classes also include time for refreshments and chat - a great way to make new friends!

Classes are tailored to different stages of development and we have a range of options available:

Babies: from birth to a year, relaxed and calm classes with lullabies – and reminders of all our lovely traditional songs you may have forgotten!

Toddlers on the move: two stages of lively classes for 1+ and 2+ – gentle and realistic structure with plenty of opportunities for marching and moving; puppets and instruments for every child. Definitely developing social skills through play!

Pre-schoolers: Usually without carers involved in the class, we encourage school-readiness with sharing, turn-taking, following verbal and non-verbal instructions etc. The classes link with the early years curriculum introducing conscious musical skills and concepts, steady beat, rhythm and simple notation.

Musicianship: For children who will soon be learning an instrument – or children who have been with Musical Bumps for a while – musicianship is the perfect (and fun) start to musical literacy. Using simple tuned percussion, children learn the basics of musical reading as well as enjoying singing, dancing and playing untuned percussion. Children attend weekly after-school group sessions starting in the final term of reception.
