Meet Sarah Barrett

Hi! I am the founder of Kindermusik with Sarah and currently the sole educator. I have been a musician for as long as I can remember! After starting to play the recorder at infant school, I went on to study the violin and clarinet. Having well and truly caught the music bug, I went on to gain a first class honours music degree from the University of Bristol.

Music continues to be a major part of my life as I am very lucky to perform with two local orchestras alongside my cellist husband and various chamber ensembles. I am also the founder of the Whiteknights Ensemble. Added to this is the rewarding, though sometimes challenging, task of helping my own children with their musical practise and taxiing them to their various musical activities!

I first discovered the joys of Kindermusik when my eldest son was at day nursery and knew that it was special! Ever since my children were very small, the house has been filled with a huge variety of musical sounds – bongos, drums, violins, singing, piano, trombone to name a few! My youngest son was one of my own first Young Child Kindermusik graduates.

Discovering the joy that young children can experience through music during their early years led me down the path of training to teach the wonderful Kindermusik curriculum in 2013. By teaching at Kindermusik with Sarah, I now share my love of music with children and their parents so hopefully, as a family, you can develop the same lifelong appreciation and enjoyment of music that I have.

I have received a Maestro Top Programme award from Kindermusik International for teaching excellence for the last five years.
