Kumon is a long-term daily study programme that depends on a positive attitude from the student, full parental support, the instructor’s expertise and commitment, and good communication between all parties.
The starting point is an essential part of the programme to ensure solid foundations and is established during the initial assessment appointment. An individual study plan is then formed to show how and what progress can be made.
Rather than offering conventional maths and English tuition, we guide students through work set at just the right level for them, keeping them engaged and making progress. We support and encourage students to work out answers by themselves, helping them become self-sufficient and independent learners for the future. By studying little and often through daily booklets, students steadily increase ability and fluency, building skills in small, manageable steps. Please take a look at the Kumon website where you will find lots of information on how students learn with Kumon. www.kumon.co.uk/ www.Kumon.ie.
At Kumon we aim to give our students the tools needed to enjoy learning while establishing strong foundations in maths and/or English, helping them to feel confident enough to tackle challenging work when, and wherever, they come across it.
We are open between 4pm and 6pm on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. There are three time-slots available to maximise the support that can be offered to your children. Time at the centre is roughly - one subject = 30 minutes, two subjects = 45 minutes.

Meet Nancy Wild
My name is Nancy and I have been the Instructor at the Kumon Camden Town Study Centre since 2006. We have supported hundreds of children to develop confidence in their academic ability by helping them develop study skills alongside their academic achievement. I believe that by providing a friendly, supportive environment and individualised work, all students can thrive. Students' self esteem and confidence increase as they take ownership of their learning and achieve the goals and targets set for them, and by them. For many students Kumon helps them to believe that they 'can' do maths and English, which also translates to school.
I have always worked in Camden as a primary school teacher and, with over 20 years’ experience teaching children from Reception to Year 6 in schools and from nursery up to A level students in Kumon, I have a wealth of knowledge about the school national curriculum as well as exceptional understanding of the Kumon programmes. I still work part time in schools which enables me to stay up to date with curriculum changes and advances which, in turn, enables me to better understand the needs of children who come to me at Kumon Camden Town Study Centre.
Through running the centre, I have seen how children can improve their knowledge and understanding through developing the confidence to learn for themselves. Students are encouraged to be independent in the classroom and improve on overall study skills like concentration and focus, as well as learning the maths and English topics. Every child's academic ability is different but each child has the ability to move forwards and progress on the programmes, and they do.
