Now in its seventh year, Engineering Open House Day is all about showing children aged 5-13 and their parents or guardians just how exciting the wonderful world of engineering and technology really is!

Taking place on Friday, 29 July 2022, we’re working with companies up and down the country again to inspire the engineers of tomorrow. Not only will there be lots of exciting events taking place across the UK, but we’ll be holding our very own event at our London venue, Savoy Place. With lots of interactive exhibits, from virtual reality headsets to learning how to operate camera and television equipment, there’s something for everyone at this event. Plus, we’ll be putting on two very exciting live shows hosted by Science Presenter, the one and only Greg Foot! Jam packed with experiments from Dangerous Dan and interactive talks from some special guests, you don’t want to miss it!

Engineering Open House Day is one of several initiatives that make up the IET’s Engineer a Better World campaign, where we encourage children to discover how exciting the world of STEM is and find out about the huge variety of creative and stimulating careers in modern engineering.

With the support from organisations giving exclusive, behind the scenes access, children can see first-hand how engineering and technology are applied in a range of roles and jobs across different sectors and feel inspired about the breadth of creative and innovative careers on offer.

Engineers bring ideas to life, turn dreams into reality and make solutions to big challenges possible. So, whether young people are into sports, music, fashion, flying, healthcare or improving our climate, there’s a place in engineering and technology for them.
