The Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts in Bardsey.
Our weekend performing arts academy offers an incredible variety of classes, ensuring every young person finds their thing. From getting hands on with professional filmmaking equipment in our Film & TV class, to writing their own stand up comedy shows in Comedy & Drama and learning show-stopping choreography in Musical Theatre.
But at PQA Leeds North & Bardsey, we don’t just prepare your child to flourish on a stage or behind the camera; we equip them with invaluable skills for the everyday scene.
But beyond the hustle and bustle of a film set or the stage, what we’re really all about is helping children discover their amazing self. All whilst learning and having fun in a safe and inclusive environment. Our mission is to nurture self-belief, empowering young individuals to discover their unique voice and be proudly visible in every aspect of their lives.
PQA Leeds North & Bardsey offers everyone aged 4-18 the opportunity to try a full academy session for free. We’d love to welcome you and your child to our academy - see for yourself what a positive impact the performing arts can have!

Meet Laura Nicholson
Laura is incredibly proud to be Principal of PQA Leeds North & Bardsey! She was inspired to become involved in performing arts as a child by passionate and motivational teachers, and she is delighted to now be able to share her own passion with the next generation.
Laura trained professionally at Trinity Laban. Upon graduation she worked extensively in the north of England as a performer and workshop leader, including several years as a core member of Qdos Dance Theatre, devising and performing issue-based work for young people across the UK.
Laura is a qualified secondary school teacher with 17 years of experience in performing arts education, including in school leadership. She has worked as a consultant, delivering training in performing arts to teachers, and completed a Masters-level certificate in Teaching and Learning.
Laura continues to work nationally as an arts and education leader, delivering national performance projects and championing the importance of performing arts for young people. She believes passionately about the power of the arts to transform and improve the lives of children, helping them to develop confidence and resilience, as well as experience the sheer joy of performing with likeminded peers!
