This year's Big Draw Festival at Barkingside Art Club celebrates #DrawinginMotion while embracing Black History Month through the inspiring journey of Esiyada, our creative ambassador and young leader supporting SEN (Special Educational Needs) children. We aim to empower the next generation by highlighting his contributions and reclaim narratives by showcasing Black excellence within our community. Participants will learn various portrait drawing methods focused on movement and dynamism, culminating in animated creations that capture the energy of life

What To Expect
Drawing Techniques Freehand drawing, monoprinting, sketching portraits from various angles
Animation Bring your drawings to life with simple animation techniques
Inclusive Workshops Sensory-rich activities designed for SEN participants
Interactive Art Performances Outdoor drawing sessions capturing real-time movement
Take It Home Free sketchbooks, take-home portraits, prints, and animations
Who Can Join
Open to all skill levels; tailored sessions for SEN children and families. No prior experience needed
FEATURING ISLAND MOVEMENTS BALLET
Before and after the workshops join us for "Island Movements," a 30-minute, family-friendly ballet celebrating the Windrush generation's legacy on family, community, and society. Enjoy a free performance followed by a Q&A with the dancers and creators.
