At Star-Tastic Gymnastics, our pathway classes take young athletes from their very first steps in the sport through to confident, skilful gymnastics across all apparatus.
Little Stars & Rising Stars (Beginners)
Our beginner classes focus on coordination, balance and strength development using a variety of fun, age-appropriate equipment. Gymnasts learn key shapes, basic movements and essential gross motor skills while working towards foundational skills such as forward rolls, bunny hops, kick to handstand progressions, beam walking and balancing, bar swings, and introductory vault mounts. Flexibility, stretching and conditioning form part of every session to build safe and effective movement patterns from the start.
Shining Stars & Shooting Stars (Improvers)
Progressing from the beginner levels, these gymnasts build on their core foundations with skills including cartwheels, handstand holds, and both forward and backward rolls. On apparatus, athletes advance to circling up to the bar, developing casts, mounting and dismounting the beam with confidence, performing squat-ons and forward rolls on vault, and tackling more dynamic trampette skills such as dive rolls. Flexibility and conditioning remain key as gymnasts prepare for more challenging skills.
Superstars & Supersquad (Advanced Recreational)
These gymnasts have solid floor basics, including rolls, handstands, cartwheels, bridges and balances. Classes focus on advancing to round-offs, backbends, handstand to bridge, and walkover progressions. On bars, athletes work towards independent casts, strong swinging shapes and back hip circles. Vault training includes squat throughs, straddle overs and handspring flatbacks, while beam work develops jumps, leaps, spins and the ability to place skills such as handstands and dynamic connections onto the apparatus. Each session reinforces conditioning, strength building, flexibility and technical foundations to support continued progression.
