Description

We bring the FUN to Tummy Time!
Little Tummy Tigers is a 6-week block of fun sessions, available for babies 2-6 months.
Discover a variety of ways to help your baby enjoy Tummy Time and understand more on the importance of Tummy Time as a position for supervised play, whilst enjoying different themed play each week with songs and sensory activities to have fun with your little one knowing you're also helping promote both their physical and brain development.

Tummy time is a position for play - Back to SLEEP, Tummy to PLAY. It can be introduced from birth, but is recommended for 2-6 month olds to get maximum benefit. The important thing is for it to start as short supervised periods of time. The best tummy time positions for 2-3 month olds are on their parent/caregiver.

Our sessions will focus on gentle, nurturing tummy time holds. This can be on the chest, lap, arms and legs, as a way to safely and slowly challenge baby's core strength and fine motor coordination through a gradual introduction.

The short supervised periods of tummy time can be gradually built up in length and frequency from around 3 months. Each child is different and the important thing is to listen to baby's cues to gauge what they are comfortable with and to aim for tummy time to ideally be when they are in a calm and alert state. We will discuss this in more detail at the sessions.

Tummy time should always be SUPERVISED play. For 3 to 6 month olds we focus on tummy time positions that encourage brain development, fine motor skills and sensory play.

Other Info

So, is it ALL about Tummy Time?
The short answer is no, though Tummy Time is a focus in some of the activities we do, it's equally important to mix it up when it comes to play positions so we incorporate lots of other great play time activities too, which gives babies a little break from time on their tum!

All our Little Tummy Tigers receive a certificate at the end of their first 6 weeks!

Meet Jen

Hi! My name is Jen and I am the Founder and class leader of Sense of Calm,

I created Sense of Calm at the end of 2021, starting with our Pop-Up Sensory sessions, with the aim to enable parents and caregivers to bring their child to a calming experience that encourages bonding and connection, incorporating cognitive development and learning through sensory play. The Sensory tent, a soothing semi-enclosed sensory space, was designed to provide parents a welcoming, inclusive space to build social connections between caregivers, support new parents to feel connected to others, whilst building on their special bond with their child.

I have since gone on to qualify as a baby massage instructor, tummy time expert and developmental play practitioner to create fun and engaging range of classes that you and your little one will enjoy and benefit from.

When I was a new mum, sometimes I just needed a little bit of calm in my day. For that reason I created Pop-Up Sensory to help other parents find a fun daytime activity and (child permitting!) a little tranquillity for you both.

Now my little girl has grown out of the toddler phase and has started school but even now, as a parent, I see how calming spaces can have such benefit for young children's emotional wellbeing and coping mechanism to take forward to adulthood.
...and, importantly, as parents and care givers a little calm in our day slowing down the
constant on-the-go nature of raising a little one can be so beneficial.

I hope to see you at one of our classes soon!

Jen x
