Who is Theatretrain and what do we offer?
For over 30 years Theatretrain is proud to have been pioneers of performing arts training for young people. It’s not like a school with pupils, classes, examinations, timetables and teachers. It’s a theatre company so we have young performers and creatives who lead them. We call them Musical Directors, Choreographers and Acting Directors.
Any proper training in the performing arts has to balance learning about acting, dancing and singing with making theatre. Each subject crosses over and enriches the other and you see this in performances.
We take this work seriously but it’s great fun. There is fun in doing the work and we love laughter, but we can also be serious - all of life is there and the friendships that are made last far beyond the classes.
The transferable skills our young performers gain range from:
• confidence building,
• raising their self-esteem,
• learning self-discipline,
• how to work as part of a team,
• thinking creatively,
• problem solving,
• communication skills,
• improved concentration and focus,
• negotiators,
• empathy,
• decision-making,
• adaptability,
• the list is endless.
We give our students different performing experiences. Some take place in a local theatre, others are larger with up to 8 Theatretrain companies coming together in a national performance in a large proscenium theatre.
We also make performances in arenas. We have produced shows in the O2 Arena and every other year we perform at the Royal Albert Hall.

Meet Carol (Cas) Soper
Hi, I'm Carol - known by the young performers and their families as, Cas, and I am the Company Director at Theatretrain Sutton, where my job is to ensure your children are enjoying their professional theatre training in a fun and creative way.
I took over Theatretrain Sutton in 2013. I am a qualified drama teacher of nearly 30 years and have extensive administrative and management experience.
Prior to taking over the running of the school I was ‘just another Theatretrain parent’, as my daughter attended the school.
I think Theatretrain is ‘extra-curricular performing art’s best kept secret!’
