Meet Adele Quittenden
‘Once Upon the Mat’ was established in September 2018, after completing an BA and MA (Res). It was inspired and driven by my own experience of becoming a mother in 2015 and attending many baby classes with my little boy.
I experienced birth trauma and post-natal depression and realised there wasn’t any baby groups that not only supported baby development through creative and exciting classes, but also supports and nurtures mother’s wellbeing. I was determined to be the first within my area to create such a class!
Classes have been heavily researched and created to aid baby development and incorporate sensory play, baby craft, baby massage, baby yoga and children’s yoga.
Once Upon the Mat has created its very own unique and exciting curriculum with embraces the EYFS and National Curriculum aims and objectives.
The welcoming, creative space created by ‘Once Upon the Mat’ also provides a safe, non-judgemental environment for mums to socialise and develop new friendships during the built in socialising time in each class.
Wellbeing and mental health and physical development are at the forefront of ‘Once Upon the Mat’ ethos and philosophy, with the aim to
nurture the minds and bodies of tomorrow!
