Fun weekly classes providing part time training in the performing arts. Session lasts 3 hours - one hour each of singing, dancing and acting. Children are taught in three age groups - 6-9, 9-12 and 13-18. Theatretrain has been running for 19 years in Cambridge and 27 years nationally, so has a wealth of experience in teaching performing arts to young people, under the expert direction of Kevin Dowsett, who has developed the "Theatre Way" which informs our curriculum.
Children are presented with exceptional, life enhancing experiences, such as performing in London's most prestigious venues (Royal Albert Hall, The O2 Arena, Sadler's Wells, the London Palladium to name a few!) and have also performed at Disneyland Paris, New York and other international events. We also perform locally every other year so students can experience every kind of performance situation.
After the initial 6 months of training, students have the opportunity of auditioning for our sister agency, Goldman's Management, for registration on Spotlight and professional work in the industry.
Performing arts training is now recognised as being highly beneficial to a child's personal development and also enhances their general ability to learn. Students also learn to work as a team, and they also develop leadership, creative, decision making and collaborative skills. They also discover the benefits of working hard to achieve their goals and experience the pay back of success. And of course everyone makes a new circle of friends in a supportive and caring environment, so enhances both mental and physical health too!

Meet Ruth McKechnie
Ruth has been running Cambridge South (formerly East) centre since 2004 (having previously been a singing teacher at that centre) and then went on to set up a centre in King's Lynn in 2005 and now has taken over the Cambridge North Centre at Chesterton since 2018. Having started out with a career in theatre/music she then joined the civil service where she became a senior manager and learned all her teaching/training/management/business skills. A change of direction then led her to return to theatre/opera/music and subsequently to run her Theatretrain centres and also set up a retail business in dancewear - Attitude Dancewear - which she owned for 7 years.
