Description

Would you like to be with like-minded parents in an environment where you and your child are equally valued?

If you’re also interested in Gentle Parenting, Free Play, RIE or Natural Child Development, Balanced Babies is definitely for you!

Balanced Babies classes, based on the Pikler approach to early childhood development, sow the seeds for essential life skills - including self-confidence, a love of learning and much-needed inner and outer balance - in children aged between birth and 2 years.

In small groups, we interpret child development through the medium of self-chosen play and curiosity.

With many demands on your time and attention every day, it's easy to miss your child's subtler accomplishments. We offer your little one a YES SPACE, where they're allowed to do (almost) everything, and we offer you a PARENT SPACE where you have the freedom to sit and enjoy quality time with your child, away from distractions and the pressures of having to do many other things at the same time! Balanced Babies Groups are phone-free environments.

While your little one plays, you relax in the knowledge that this is a non-judgemental space for parents and carers and for their little ones. The emphasis is on sitting back and allowing your child to ‘unfold’ - taking their time to do what they need to in the present moment. I am on hand at all times to model and teach respectful care and attention and I offer regular one-to-one and group Q&As to answer queries and share many years’ experience.

Meet Rachel Tapping

I’m Rachel Tapping and I’ve been running classes since 2006 and, for more than half of that time, I’ve been bringing the principles of respectful care, co-operation, free movement and self-chosen play into everything I do.

Whether it’s parent-child groups for those with young children or workshops and consultations for adults, these same principles shine an equal light on child development and parent development.

By working alongside our children, we can positively influence their feelings of self-esteem, self-confidence and balance - both inner and outer. And, while we do all this, we can also discover how to stay true to our authentic selves - reconnecting to our inner childlike self and discovering simple, more mindful ways to be both parent and partner to our children.
