Bringing the right kind of drama to the classroom, Drama Kids is all about nurturing confidence, communication and creativity for children and young people across the UK.Â
Drama Kids was founded all the way back in 1979 by
actress and teacher Helen O’Grady who aimed to use drama as a tool to
teach children how to build their self-esteem and communicate with
confidence. In her words, "What you say is important. How you say it
makes the difference."Â
Using drama activities such as improv, script work and storytelling, students dive into the world of drama with the guidance of a trained teacher. Each class is crafted from Drama Kids’ award-winning curriculum that aims to support all children with their skills development. Lesson plans use exciting themes and specialist expertise to engage children to learn in the most fun and welcoming environment. It’s not about creating the performers of tomorrow, but about helping children grow into confident adults bursting with self-belief.
In order for loved ones to see their children’s drama experience brought to life and to give students a chance to perform, summer term is all about putting on a play. These productions are all original scripts exclusive to Drama Kids and give every child the opportunity to be on stage in a way that feels comfortable for them.
Drama Kids classes include:Â
•  Lower Primary for ages 5-8. These classes see
children work with their peers to explore expressive storytelling and
clear speech through fun exercises and performance activities.Â
•  Upper Primary for ages 9-11. Taking confidence-building to the next level, Upper Primary is all about encouraging students to lose any nerves they have around communication and performing in a friendly, pressure-free environment. Class activities are fun and energetic with their roots in storytelling.Â
•  Youth Theatre for ages 12-18. Discovering how
to be confident communicators and working as a group, Youth Theatre
classes see older children learn to express themselves as they navigate
adolescence.Â
Select academies also offer:
•  Early Years for ages 3-4. These classes use imaginative play to teach toddlers how to find their courage, creativity and voice. Early Years at Drama Kids is a wonderful introduction to drama.Â
•  Adult Classes. Drama is for everyone and
these adult classes are here to prove it. Whether you’re looking to
boost your confidence or for a chance to give performance a go, these
classes offer a friendly environment in which to try your hand at
acting.Â
